ClanXav\u00a0<\/span><\/a>–<\/span>\u00a0ClamXav is the ClamAV open source virus scanner ported for Mac OS X. Free virus protection is hard to top.<\/strong><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Paranoid Android<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span>–<\/span>\u00a0This little freeware application can be configured to warn you when malicious software tries to modify anything on your system.<\/strong><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Little Snitch –<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<\/a>Informs you of all incoming and outgoing connections to the machine, this also works wonders as a troubleshooting application for multi-platform environments and hardening testing <\u2013 by far one of my favorites!<\/strong><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Nessus<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span>–<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Premier UNIX vulnerability assessment tool<\/strong><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

John the Ripper –<\/span><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>John the Ripper is a freeware password crack utility that has been ported to Mac OS X. This utility will allow you to crack passwords if the root or admin password is ever lost.<\/strong><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Wireshark<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0–<\/span><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Sniffing the glue that holds the Internet together<\/strong><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

KisMac \u2013\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/a>This handy little piece of freeware is great for sniffing wireless network traffic. This is the Mac OS X port of the popular Kismet wireless packet analyzer.<\/strong><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

AirRadar –<\/span><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0Cute little wireless network scanner that is nice enough to give us MAC addresses in the basic GUI<\/strong><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

MacStumbler –<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0The 2.0 version is soon to come that has talk of much better MBP support. Older versions work great on PPC\u2019s<\/strong><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/a>Firefox extensions\/Plug-ins<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/h4>\n

AdBlock<\/span><\/a>\u00a0–<\/span>\u00a0It blocks ads, lots of them<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The application is FREE to all law enforcement and can be purchased by everyone else thru Architecture Technology Corporation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Exiftool –<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>a free utility to extract EXIF data from a huge list of file types by Phil Harvey.<\/span><\/p>\n

Exif Data Dump –<\/span><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0an Automator Action based on Exiftool by George Starcher that will turn Exif data gathering into a one step action<\/span><\/p>\n

TNEF –<\/span><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0a free utility to decode WINMAIL.DAT email attachments by Josh Jacob<\/span><\/p>\n

iBored –<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0a free hex editor for disk sectors written by Thomas Tempelmann<\/span><\/p>\n
